Cadre with backgrounds in Special Operations lead every class from start to finish. Individuals start the Challenge, a team finishes the Challenge. Together.
The Challenge is hiring, and please see the bottom of this page for more info. You’re probably a good fit if you love to drink beer, have a background in Special Operations, and hate the thought of being a drill sergeant. The Challenge is elite training, not basic training.
Lou
Lead Cadre

Lou has been in the army since George Washington was a private. He’s been on sensitive operations around the globe since Jason was still riding his big wheel. He loves smoking cigarettes, quitting smoking, and watching his kids play sports.
Brian
Director, Capstone Events

Brian lived out of his rucksack throughout Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom as a Marine rifle infantryman. Upgrading to business class and becoming a Green Beret opened doors of opportunity around the globe to explore his insatiable craving for adventure. He served with Jason across the globe and earned the nickname ‘Fire God’ for things that may or may not have happened in a team house in Germany. Brian lives west of Denver, CO, where he has daily fellowship with the Rocky Mountains.
Jason
Founder

Jason joined the Army and earned his Green Beret after 9/11 for the paid vacations. His time with America’s best took him to Iraq, Africa, and Europe, and gave him bonds to last a lifetime. Always inspired by the three rules of Special Forces: (1) Always look cool (2) Never get lost (3) If you get lost, look cool – and recognizing that most gear on the market broke rule number 1 – he founded GORUCK and later the GORUCK Challenge. He is currently either leading a Challenge or drinking beer at a Ruckoff with his chocolate lab, Java.
Dan

Dan’s a Green Beret with multiple deployments behind him over the past few years – Korea, Germany, and four to Afghanistan. In his spare time, he enjoys smoking cigarettes and drinking beer at elevation. He lives in North Carolina with his wife and daughter.
Beaux

Beaux is a Force Recon Marine with multiple deployments to Iraq behind him. He showed up for Class 001 of the GORUCK Challenge proclaiming that he wanted to meet the kind of person who would sign up for this kind of thing. Now he travels the world preparing for the zombie apocalypse. Those who have watched ‘Surviving the Cut’ may recognize him for some of the same antics he brings with him to the GORUCK Challenge.
Joel

After earning his Green Beret, Joel was stationed in Colorado and sent on several trips to Iraq, as well as other countries around the globe. He lives in Colorado where he attempts to continue to play Army in the National Guard with Brian.
Patrick

Patrick is a former Marine and current member of the US Navy. He has over eight years of operations as a member of Navy Special Warfare and is looking forward to passing his love of the maritime environment to Challenge takers.
David
David joined the Army in the mid 1980′s and quickly realized Special Operations was his comfort zone. He spent his Special Forces career as a Combat Diver, with most of his deployed time in Central and South America. He currently lives in Texas with his wife and two daughters, enjoying family adventures and raising his daughters.
Devin

Devin’s pushing his nine-year mark in the Army, the last six of which he spent as a Green Beret. He’s enjoyed four fun-filled tours of Iraq’s enchanting accommodations, and a number of stopovers throughout Africa, and now keeps up on his SF trade through the National Guard. He now lives in Washington D.C., where he frequently raids the fridge at GRHQ.
Dave

Dave has been in Special Operations since the mid 1990′s, first in Air Force Special Ops and then later as a Green Beret. He’s been on a seemingly endless world tour, making multiple stops as a SF Q-course instructor – where he taught Jason and Brian – some work over in the Sandbox, and plenty of time in South America. He now serves in the National Guard, where he gets to jump out of planes infrequently and dedicate more time to beer and his family.
Java

Java is from a classified location. He has traveled to many nations, but his two favorite places are (1) his favorite chair at GRHQ, helping determine GORUCK’s strategic direction, and (2) wherever the Challenge takes him. Which means just about everywhere else.
The GORUCK Challenge is Hiring
Interested in becoming a Cadre? First and foremost, you must have a Special Operations background. Once you’ve gotten that minor detail out of the way, here are the steps.
We’re currently looking for British SAS to head our European operations for the GORUCK Challenge. Please note we are not currently hiring any CONUS-based Cadre, but it never hurts to introduce yourself sooner rather than later if you’re interested, and we’re planning to start hiring again in late 2012.
1. Register for a Challenge.
2. Send us an email (info@goruckchallenge.com) letting us know that you are interested in being a Cadre and at which Challenge we can find you.
3. Do a Challenge.
4. If asked, you will then shadow a Cadre as he leads a Challenge.
5. If asked, be shadowed leading a Challenge.
6. Smile.
